GRANT POLICY
The Alton Society has a limited amount of funding which it makes available for the award of small grants within the community. The policy is set out below.
Scope of grants
Grants can be awarded for any purpose that is seen to further the aims of the Alton Society, i.e. to support and improve the environment and thus the lives of people living within Alton and the surrounding countryside.
The full aims are set out below.
Some examples of the areas where the Alton Society will consider awarding grants are:

Support to develop an enhanced community

Projects that improve the quality of life for local citizens

Equipment that will benefit the community

Services that benefit the community

Social inclusion

Grassroots capability building of an organisation that is aiming to support the community

fundraising appeals that support the aims of the Alton Society

The Alton Society will consider grants for any of the following:

One-off grants for either specific new projects, or for projects that require a financial injection to protect their ongoing sustainability.ï€ ï‚·

Seed corn funding to get new community initiatives off the ground

What the Alton Society won’t fund

Political parties
-
Religious organisations, unless the application is to provide non-religious services to the community
-
Services that are the responsibility of the statutory sector to fund or provide
-
Services that take place out of the area (not within Alton Town or its adjoining parishes)

Medical research
-
Animal welfare
-
Funding for major capital appeals or items
-
Retrospective requests
Application process
Organisations can apply for a grant by contacting us. The Management Committee will review the application and make a decision, which we aim to make within 8 weeks of receiving an application.
