SCHOLARSHIPS

The Alton Society provides grants to local organisations to help promote new projects or sustain existing ones. The criteria for applications are generally linked to the Society’s aims and are set out in the Alton Society Grant Policy.

As part of its commitment to the future of Alton, the Society sponsors the ‘Nicky Branch Memorial Scholarship for Excellence in Creative Writing’, open to students at Alton College.

Outstanding Services to Alton

The Alton Society recognises individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the town through their work, voluntary efforts, or both.

Ambrose Award, Vicarage Hill 2023

The Ambrose Award 

Named in honour of the first chairman of the Society, John Ambrose, it acknowledges excellence in one or more projects relating to building, conservation, landscaping or other environmental improvements that have enhanced the visual quality or the amenities of the Alton area.
