THE AMBROSE AWARD

This award, named in honour of the first chairman of the Society, aims to acknowledge excellence in one or more projects relating to building, conservation, landscaping or other environmental improvement that have enhanced the visual quality or the amenities of the Alton area.

Ambrose Award, Amery Farm House 2022

The range of qualifying projects cover broadly:

  • New Building or Development

  • Conversion or Conservation of an Existing Building

  • Landscaping or other Environmental Improvement (not necessarily involving building)

Consideration will be limited to projects effectively completed at some point within the period of 24 months ending on 30 September 2025. i.e Between 1 October 2023 and 30 September 2025


The main criteria applicable include:

  • Consistency & quality of design, including quality of the materials

  • Quality of execution / construction

  • Sustainable design and construction

  • Contribution to the surroundings

  • Contribution to life in the Alton area

HOW TO NOMINATE

Nominations are welcome from Alton Society members as well as members of the public. The completed form should be submitted before 31st August.
