Dear Ms Farthing,

Planning Application EHDC-26-0082-FUL
Land South of Wilsom Farm Wilsom Road, Alton, Hampshire

We are concerned by many aspects of this planning application, as are others and we OBJECT to it.

We support and agree with the

  • Environment Agency’s objection that the development is in a category that is inappropriate to the Flood Zone – i.e. it is at risk of flooding;

  • and the attachment of conditions by Thames Water to any EHDC permission, based on necessary upgrades or an agreed phasing plan.

We have seen the results of the inability of the sewage infrastructure to cope on Mill Hill Lane and New Odiham Road in periods of heavy rain in recent years, so measures to avoid more of this are to be welcomed.

We consider the scale of the development to be unreasonable given the proximity to a residential area ( 20 – 30m). The units are substantial and very different in size to those facing residents at Omega Park. The development is an industrial estate with a much weightier impact than that of a small commercial development, which would be more in keeping with the location.

The 24hr operation will severely impact the residents in terms of light and noise. We therefore support the Senior Environmental Health Officer’s objection and recommendation that working hours should be restricted to 0700 to 1800 Mon to Fri if permission is granted.

Regards
